Mayor Baldwin will welcome Business of Software Conference to Raleigh on behalf of the city.
Mary-Ann currently serves as mayor of Raleigh, a post she has held since 2022 where her remit includes making the city an obvious choice for tech companies to base themselves. Before entering local government, Mary-Ann led marketing for companies in tech, health care and engineering sectors (including Strategyn).

During her 30+-year career, Mary-Ann has developed and managed complex brands, developed and executed strategic plans, and built exponential corporate growth for companies in the health care, legal, sports, engineering and construction fields. Demonstrated skills in P&L, and mergers and acquisitions, with an innate talent for leading teams through change. Marketing expert with a focus on integrated marketing, digital marketing, public relations and community relations. Whilst also being skilled in public policy development, government relations, economic development, non-profit management, fundraising and board service.
As Mayor, she has: served as a housing and transit advocate, leading efforts for a historic $80 million affordable housing bond (approved by 72% of the voters) and for the city’s first bus rapid transit corridor and regional commuter rail service; and led city’s response to COVID and social unrest during 2020, with steps to address equity, assist our small business community and provide funding for vulnerable residents to pay their rent and utilities.
