BoS Conf Scholarships 2023

Business of Software Europe 27-28 March, Cambridge UK

Business of Software USA (Dates and location TBC)

The brightest software entrepreneurs from across the world will be meeting at BoS events throughout 2023 to interact with their peers, discuss the big issues around running a software business, and participate in interactive sessions led by experts.

Every year at Business of Software Conference, the generosity of our supporters allows us to offer full conference tickets to deserving entrepreneurs and leaders who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend the event.

This is a brilliant way to get a leg up in the industry and meet some extraordinary people who want to help you succeed.

You will leave with ideas that will make a difference and an amazing network of people who can help you make it happen.

This year is no different.

What does a BoS Scholarship involve?

This year, scholars will get a full pass for the entire conference, for 1% of the cost of a ticket.*

You get access to:

  • All the sessions
  • All the lunch discussions and networking
  • All the slides and takeaways

It’s as simple as that. We don’t single you out as a scholar or a ‘non-paying attendee’ – you’re a BoS Conference attendee, just like everybody else.

Am I eligible to apply for a scholarship?

BoS Scholarships are for software entrepreneurs, emerging leaders, and smart people starting out on their entrepreneurial journey who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend the event. We do not want people with great ideas that could make a difference in the world to miss out simply because of the cost of attendance.

We’re especially keen to encourage applications from:

  • Underrepresented groups in the software community.
  • People having a tough time due to a change in circumstances.
  • People who are starting out and want to supercharge their knowledge, experience, and network of great people.
  • People who are working to make the world a better place.

We want to bring you into – and keep you in – the community and help you.

Three reasons you should consider applying for a scholarship

1 – You’re starting a software company but haven’t quite got there yet and BoS could provide the inspiration and the catalyst you need to get going.

2 – Your startup isn’t making enough money yet or your business is a not for profit or other organization run for the benefit of the community.

3 – You’re going it alone and need to meet more people

That’s just three reasons – you may have other reasons for applying, and that’s great. If you’re running or working in a Software Business and wouldn’t otherwise be able to make it to #BoS2023, submit your application for a 99% discounted ticket.

Is it worth applying for a scholarship?

We think so – but don’t take our word for it. Here’s what some previous scholars have to say:

“BoS is more than just a conference. It is a community of people from all over the world who are committed to building great software businesses. Whilst not meaning to simply repeat your own marketing spiel, BoS really did feel like a large group of friends who welcomed new members and openly shared their knowledge. Buoyed by the optimism of this event, I will go back home and enact the learnings!”

“I have made so many great connections from this event that can assist Code 4000 in helping in many more people in an even more effective way”.

Ashley Fulcher, Code 4000

“The two most important days for our startup in 2015 were spent at Business of Software (BoS). Don’t count the things you do. Do the things that count. If you don’t have time to go to this conference, make time. Do what counts.”

Angela Hood, ThisWayGlobal

Priority is always given to people who are building things, making things, doing things. Scholarships are not a way for someone to attend the event so they can sell their services.

We’ll be in touch within two working days to let you know if your application has been successful so don’t delay.

Why 1% of the cost, not free?

You attend as a paying attendee and paying a nominal amount demonstrates a commitment to participating. Unfortunately, we have found in the past that when the tickets were completely free, we had too many people who registered to attend then didn’t come. This is unfortunate because it deprives other people who would like to attend the opportunity to be part of the community.
