Proud Mum and the No Hitter

Hard to believe that Wendi Labbie has kids at college. She had children very young. A proud moment for us all to see her son pitch a ‘no hitter’ when she was over here a couple of weeks ago for our IoT Forum.

Here is a short video of the final pitches….

Here is an excerpt from the game report. I found it about as intelligible as baseball fans might find a cricket match report…

Nice one Mitch. You did your Mom Proud.

“Labbie made history¬†Saturday by firing the first no-hitter in modern program history. The right-hander went¬†the distance in a seven-inning format in¬†Game 1 of a doubleheader, facing two batters over the minimum in a 12-0 victory¬†over DeSales University.¬†Labbie said he became cognizant of the¬†no-hitter as he took the mound in the fifth¬†inning, but went unfazed by the potential¬†gem until the seventh.‚ÄúI didn‚Äôt really get nervous until literally¬†the last out of the game,‚ÄĚ Labbie said. ‚ÄúThe¬†fans started standing up and my team mates¬†were going crazy ‚Ķ so I just said to myself¬†I have to lock in right here because this¬†could be my career game.‚ÄĚIn the final inning, Labbie faced the heart¬†of the DeSales batting order. He started the¬†frame by striking out Carlos Urena then got¬†cleanup hitter Jay Maletz to fly out to left.¬†Facing junior Alec Hardy with two outs,¬†Labbie ran the count to 2-0 before peeling a¬†cutter across the plate for a strike. Then on a¬†2-1 count, Hardy hit a pop-up into foul¬†ground on the first base side.” San Mateo Daily Journal.
